2013 Gup Training Day

Our second annual Gup Training Day was held in Denver, NC on February 2, 2013. The Black Belt and Gup participants were treated to a great array of seminar choices including sparring techniques, jumping kicks, judo, escrima, bong techniques, yoga, weapon disarms, kubaton and so much more. Some of our seminar instructors traveled from as far as Washington, DC and Virginia to help out with this event. Also held at this event was another opportunity to certify or re-certify for WTSDA judging. This training session included the seminar, written and practical tests. Although certification is good for 5 years, Black Belts are encouraged to sit-in as a refresher annually or test for an advanced judging position. To run great regional and world

tournaments, we must be knowledgeable and consistent in our judging skills. Region 7 is truly dedicated to that belief. Our scholarship table had Region 7 and WTSDA items available. Even our youngest group, the Tiny Tigers and Little Dragons were treated to classes from various instructors. The brotherhood of Tang Soo Do was in high gear to make this another great Region 7 event! Chief Instructor and owner of the host school, Causby Karate Academy, Mrs. Stephanie Causby had this to say about the event, " I thought that the clinic was an improvement over last year.  We were able to offer a wider variety of classes than the previous year.  We did have more in attendance this year, and Causby Karate Academy was very pleased about serving Region 7 by hosting the clinic again this year." Region 7 is grateful to Causby Karate for hosting this fun event and allowing our Gups to participate in a non-competitive learning environment with other students from our region. Great job everyone!
